Our 'Taster Courses' are short accessible cookery skills workshops. During the hot smoking course you'll be guided through the process of curing and smoking your own food at home.

COURSE DETAILS

Welcome: Meet your host and tutor, see for yourself the Philleigh Way farmhouse cookery school. Enjoy a welcome tea or coffee and tasty Philleigh Way treat.

Demo one: Hot Smoking – the equipment. Your tutor will guide you through the equipment required for home smoking including suitable types of wood. The list is short but the resulting flavours are delicious.

Smoking fish. Your tutor will demonstrate curing and smoking fish.

Practical session one: Students prepare equipment and smoke some fish.

Demo two: Smoking meats. Your tutor will demonstrate curing and smoking meat.

Practical session two: Students prepare and smoke some meat.

Close: Have a chat with fellow course attendees and members of the Philleigh Way team. This is a guide to the sessions activities and is by no means set in stone and may vary depending on the group's interest.

Equipment: Students are asked to bring along a container suitable for taking home their smoked fish and meat.

Location: Cookery courses are run from Philleigh Way Cookery School, Cornwall. Full address details of Philleigh Way will be provided once you have booked.

Wine/drink: We are a licensed venue. We have a wide selection of the fine local wines and brews.

Age: We would advise that this course is only really suitable for 12 years of age and upwards. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
