After a hugely successful first year the Nearwater Roseland Adventure Race is back for the 2013 Fal River Festival.
The Nearwater Roseland Adventure Race returns in 2013 after proving to be a huge hit in the 2012 Fal River Festival.
This year's gruelling course will see competitiors swim, run and cycle around the Roseland Peninsula. The race takes place on Saturday, June 1 at 0900 and will start and finish in St Mawes. Full details are listed below.
Leg 1: SWIM - a 400m swim from Summers Beach St Mawes to Place Manor on St Anthony Headland
Leg 2: RUN - a 12 km Coastal Path Run to Pendower Beach
Leg 3: CYCLE - a 40 km Cycle ride along with Check points at: West Portholland, Caerhays beach, Hemmick Beach, Tubbs Mill and Bessey Beneath finishing at Percuil. Cycle Route for 2013
Leg 4: SWIM - a 100m swim across the creek
Leg 5: RUN - a 2 km run along a creek side path to the finish in St Mawes
RACE DETAILS
Competitors will need:
- Roadworthy Bike and Helmet
- Some way of carrying map and race card during the bike leg (we recommend a small rucksack or large pocket on the back of a cycling shirt)
- Wetsuit
Competitors will be provided with:
- Swimming Cap
- OS Map with Checkpoints and cycle route marked on (The cycle route will be signposted but not marshalled)
- Race Card, this will be to get punched at each of the check points on the cycle route.
The maps and race cards will be handed out a the bicycle transition (start of Leg 3).
Wetsuits will be moved by the race marshalls from the beginning of Leg 2 to the start of Leg 4 - So they will be available for the LEG 4 swim.
Bikes will be checked in at registration in St Mawes and then transported for you to the bike transition at Pendower Beach.
Teams of 2 persons may enter, the rules are that teams must stay together at all times and complete the course together.
There will be a Medal for all those completing the course.
