Sea Kayak Adventurer

8 October 2009

returns to the Maritime Museum

On Thursday 8 October renowned sea kayak explorer Jeff Allen will be returning to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall to give a fascinating lecture about his latest adventure following the "Phoenician Trail."

In the first of the new season of Open Access lectures, in association with Falmouth Marine School, Jeff will be describing his most recent challenge retracing an ancient trade route between the Middle East and Cornwall, all using folding kayaks.

Jeff says: "I am very much looking forward to coming back to talk to students from Falmouth Marine School and the general public about my recent expedition - the Phoenician trail - in aid of ovarian cancer. I will be discussing the trials and tribulations of being both the researcher and subject in such a harsh environment and how it relates to my overall aim to circumnavigate Scandinavia".

This engaging talk takes place at the Maritime Museum on Thursday 8 October at 2pm and is part of a series of talks and Q&A sessions by leading experts, addressing the latest, most topical developments in a range of specialist marine subjects. The talks are supported by South West Water.

The lectures are open to students and anyone keen to learn more about these important subjects. Admission is free to Museum ticket holders but spaces are limited so booking in advance is advised. To book your place please call 01326 214546.
