The Last of the Tall Ships

An exhibition at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall featuring striking images of the historic tall ships.

Dates: Feb 13th - Jul 18th

These striking black and white photographs by sailor, author and photographer, Alan Villiers, record early 20th century maritime history when merchant sailing vessels were in rapid decline.  Taken between 1928 and 1933, when Villiers was part owner of the four-masted barque Parma (1902), they provide a vivid and often intimate snapshot of life and work on board these romantic vessels.

A touring exhibition from Royal Museums Greenwich, with newly added objects and archive film footage on loan from the Villiers family.
