Any suitors of Portia, a rich Italian heiress, must select from three caskets, of gold, silver or lead, to win her hand in marriage.

Wednesday 18th August 2010 ~ 7:30pm (Gates open 6:30pm)

Any suitors of Portia, a rich Italian heiress, must select from three caskets, of gold, silver or lead, to win her hand in marriage. Bassanio already loves Portia, but his spendthrift ways have left him without the means to woo her. Promising to help him, Antonio, a merchant of Venice borrows 3,000 ducats from Shylock in return for a strict bond, which grants the money-lender a pound of flesh if the money is not returned.

The scene is set for an intense drama in which Portia and her maid take on male disguises, solve all problems and trick their wayward husbands. Theatre Set-Up bring to life this classic Shakespearean romantic comedy, complete with Venetian carnival-style costumes and harp accompaniment.

Tickets: Adult £11, Concession £9, Child (16 and under) £6
