What's it all about?

Truro City Carnival is a celebration of everything Truro, capital of Cornwall. The city has a rich cultural heritage, fantastic music and dance groups, a thriving commercial sector and hundreds of voluntary and charitable organisations that do tireless work in the community.

What happens?

On Carnival day, the streets of Truro come alive with the sights and sounds of a wonderful street festival to celebrate all the people, businesses and organisations that make the city such a great place to live and visit. Thousands of people attend and follow the carnival from its starting point at Hendra Park to Lemon Quay in the centre of the city.

How can you take part?

Anyone can join in the Carnival, it's a great chance to enter as a family and have some fun (An application form is available from then carnival website or from the Truro Tourist Information Centre) or get a good position street side and watch the parade passing by. With music added by marching bands, brass bands and even a bit of samba, the carnival is an explosion of colour and imagination with cute entries from the very young to spectacularly decorated floats.

Did you know?

Truro is the UK's most southerly city and famous for its narrow alley ways (one is the aptly named Squeeze Guts Alley) which are home to specialist retailers and boutiques.
