Join head chef Ollie Wyatt on Thursday 24th November for an intimate tasting evening in The Library at The Alverton, that will be a celebration of Cornwall’s incredible game meat offering.
The evening is part of our ‘Taste of Truro’ series where our chefs highlight the very best seafood, grass-fed meats and harvest from our ‘Great Little City’.
Cornwall is surrounded by plentiful of game producing estates that have hundreds of years of history and heritage behind them. Following on from their ‘Taste of Truro’ evening last year, Alverton head chef Ollie has used his knowledge and experience of working with this special type of meat to create a bespoke menu filled with expertly curated dishes that will both excite and tantalise the taste buds.
At the ‘Taste of Truro’ Game Evening expect to indulge in a six course tasting menu that incorporates Ollie’s carefully curated dishes with heavy influences of traditional Cornish recipes and a modern Alverton twist. As you take your seat for this special event, savour the flavours of local land and sea with specially created canapes of Alverton duck ham, shallot chutney & sherry vinegar and crisp native oysters and lemon. For the amuse-bouche taste quail with carrot on homemade rice crackers topped with a quails egg, followed by locally caught wood pigeon and chicory. For the main course, savour melt in the mouth Westcountry venison loin on a bed of chocolate tortellini, artichoke and red wine. Finish on a sweet note with a rich chocolate soufflé, fresh and citrusy marmalade and homemade mascarpone ice cream followed by a selection of petit fours.
While savouring each course, revel in the theatre of the evening as you listen to Ollie introduce and explain each element of his perfectly curated menu, providing you with an insight into each dish at this unique event.
The wine flight has also been carefully crafted by expert sommelier Yohann Thuillier, with each glass perfectly pairing with every forkful. This will be an additional £25 per person on the night.
