14 December 2018

We all love a crisp winter walk especially when there’s a cosy spot with a Sunday Roast en route!

Winter is a wonderful time to go walking in this part of Cornwall. With ancient woodlands, dramatic clifftops and secluded beaches you're spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a place to leave your frosty footsteps around the Fal River.

It goes without saying that a good walk is a sure to bring on a big appetite, so choosing a great eatery to start from, finish at or pass by along the way has got to be a top priority when it comes to route planning.

With this in mind, we've hunted out the best winter walk and sunday lunch combos in the area...

The Idle Rocks, St Mawes

For a sumptuous Sunday lunch overlooking the water, we love The Idle Rocks Hotel and don't just take our word for it, this chic boutique hotel was voted number 1 by The Times for "Top Sunday Lunches".

As one might expect in such a fine hotel, where the tablecloths are as crisp and white as the maître d’s aprons, the cuisine is of the very highest standard, and yet the setting is relaxed – providing a real home-from-home feeling with good-old-fashioned hospitality.

With the castle, its quaint little streets, great cafes and galleries, St Mawes is a wonderful place for a wander. We recommend the St Mawes to St Just in Roseland Walk taking in the Carrick Roads to St Just and it's beautiful creekside church.
