Spa Review : Massage at St Michaels Hotel & Spa

21 April 2018

We sent Claire off for an indulgent afternoon at St Michaels Hotel Spa in Falmouth - as you do, to try out the Elemis Freestyle Deep Tissue Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage. Here’s what she thought...

Strolling up to the St Michaels Hotel & Spa, just seconds from the sand I knew I had come to the right place for some quality me time. Only a stone’s throw from Gyllyngvase Beach, it is such a serene and scenic location. The tranquil seaside atmosphere continues throughout the hotel with it's neutral colours, contemporary decor, and bright open spaces.

The recently refurbished Health Club and Spa has been transformed and has everything you could ask for; luxury treatment rooms, steam and sauna cabins, a three-storey gym, fitness studios, and an inviting looking pool.

After a nosey around the state of the art brand new facilities, my beauty therapist came to greet me, she was really lovely and made me feel instantly at ease. Unlike other massages I've had elsewhere in the past, this one was very personalised, we chatted for a while about my needs and requirements so that she could deliver a tip-top tailored spa experience especially for me. With no particular aches or problem areas, I opted for general rejuvenation and pure relaxation! I was led into one of their treatment rooms which was a real feast for the senses- warm and cosy, gentle music playing in the background and soft robes and fluffy towels for changing.

I was very grateful for the silence once my treatment began, and the massage literally made me melt into the bed. My therapist used a variety massage techniques, and a blend of essential oils which smelt divine, I was soon lulled into blissful calm- exactly what I asked for.

At the end of the treatment I was given a cold glass of water and told to stay as long as I liked. When I eventually stirred, I decided to extend my St Michael’s experience a little longer, unwinding in the lounge bar area for coffee and a sweet treat. It was so nice to take some time to myself in the plush surroundings, gazing out over the tropical gardens with the waves lapping in the distance.

Altogether It was a truly spoilsome way to spend an afternoon, and one I would certainly recommend. I left feeling refreshed, renewed and energised. I will definitely be returning to sample the other body, face and beauty treatments, or at least to purchase some Elemis goodies to try at home.
