Vienna Piano Trio
24 January 2015
Vienna Piano Trio at Hall For Cornwall, Truro. Time 7.30 pm.
Beethoven Piano Trio in B flat, Op. 97 'Archduke'
Brahms Piano Trio No. 1 in B, Op. 8 (1853 version)
The Vienna Piano Trio has given performances at international festivals and concert halls for over 20 years. The 'Archduke' Piano Trio is one of Beethoven's finest and best-loved works: carefree and darkly dramatic, serene and playful by turns, it was also the last piano trio he ever
wrote. Brahms' B major trio is ambitious in scope and sound: the work is rich in themes and ideas which unfold serenely until a surprise, dramatic minor-key ending.
