Fal River Festival Announce 2014 Title Sponsor

25 February 2014

The annual Fal River Festival has announced Falmouth University as their 2014 title sponsor.

The leading arts based university, situated in Falmouth, has a close connection to the creative and cultural heart of the Fal River, so are delighted to be supporting this event.

Having hosted workshops and performances as part of Fal River Festival in previous years, the university is delighted to get more involved alongside becoming the title sponsor for the 2014 event.

Kirsty Davies, UK Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator for Falmouth University, commented:

“We are thrilled to be the title sponsor for Fal River Festival this year as we feel the mix of all the creative activities complement what we do at the university. We are pleased that the university and our students are able to play a key part in a community event that benefits everyone in Falmouth.”

The 2014 festival will take place from Friday 23rd May to Sunday 1st June and will encompass a blend of events across culture, music, arts, food, literature, drama, industry, gardens, sports and history.

The 10 day festival will launch with the annual Beer Fleet on Friday 23rd May, which sees a flotilla of boats sail from Truro to Falmouth with beer, pasties and shanty singers.

Other highlights include the National Maritime Museum Cornwall Abseil, which sees participants abseil 95 feet down the Museum’s Lookout Tower to raise funds to support BF Adventures' work with disadvantaged and disabled children and adults.

Sam White, Marketing and Festivals Officer for Fal River Festival, said:

“It is fantastic to have Falmouth University on board as title sponsors for the Festival. The university has such a large presence in Falmouth that we are sure its involvement will be a great asset when promoting the creative and artistic elements that make up the 10 day event.”
