Best Places to Stay Near the Beach

22 July 2016

Nothing is more British than a visit to the beach, especially when in Cornwall! We're lucky to be surrounded by stunning coastline and sandy seaside playgrounds wherever we look.

One of the things we get asked the most?

Where is the best place to stay to be close to the beach?

With so much choice we're really torn. We put together our Fal River HQ beach hideaway highlights to help you find the best beachy bolthole for your holiday. You pack the sun cream and a good novel, we'll sort the research.

St Michael's

For a luxurious break with a spot of pampering, look no further than St Michaels. This 4 star hotel in Falmouth is situated adjacent to Gyllyngvase Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Falmouth. Sandy, family-friendly and with an award-winning café bordering the sand, "Gylly" as it's affectionately known by the locals is the ideal beach for a day of fun. It's also perfect for Dad to have fun with the kids whilst Mum enjoys a few hours in the St Michael's Spa just moments away! Sea view rooms, fantastic food and indoor pool and leisure facilities, we love that you can have your feet on the sand in around 60 seconds from the hotel door! - Find out more...

Falmouth Hotel

Falmouth's first ever hotel, The Falmouth Hotel is the most striking hotel in 5 acres of gardens overlooking Castle Beach. One of our favourite Falmouth beaches, petite Castle Beach is just a short stroll along from Gyllyngvase but much smaller and very family-friendly. Paddle in the shallows or sunbathe on the shingle, wander around The Point and have an ice cream overlooking the whole of Falmouth or keep walking to Gyllyngvase for an entire day of beach fun! Falmouth Hotel is within walking distance of both Gyllynvase and Swanpool beaches but with Castle Beach right on the doorstep you can be getting your tan on straight after breakfast! Stunning sea view rooms with balcony to soak in the views, an award winning restaurant and an Elemis Spa, Falmouth Hotel is the ideal place to relax following a day of fun on the sand! - Find out more...

The Nare

The highest rated hotel in Cornwall by the AA for the past 15 consecutive years, The Nare is known for being the most luxurious of hotels in the county. Beautiful rooms, stunning sea views, an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts and hot tub overlooking the perfect Cornish beach, it's perfectly placed to explore the Roseland Peninsula. Carne Beach is directly beneath The Nare and is dog friendly all year round so you can stretch your legs with Fido on one of the prettiest beaches before unwinding in the Quarterdeck for a bite to eat. - Find out more...

House by the Beach

Location, location, location... need we say more. A collection of beachside cottages, most in Gorran Haven or Portloe, these picturesque locations are perfect for a beachside holiday. Each property offering something unique, sleeping a variety of guests. Many with private patios, woodburners, gardens or quaint window seats to watch the world go by, and all of them just moments from a beautiful beach. We adore Dolphin Cottage at Portmellon Cove! Close to Mevagissey, sea views from every window, an open fire and close to a fantastic pub, it has everything you could wish for! - Find out more...

Pier Cottage – Helpful Holidays

For something a little more private, Pier Cottage is the perfect place! Sleeping up to 4 people, this pretty cottage is right on the water's edge in St Mawes. An upside down cottage with the most spectacular views, not only does Pier Cottage have all the mod-cons (dishwasher, microwave, WiFi, washing machine, tumble drier, televisions etc), it's also just a few steps from the beach, meaning you can be rock-pooling, paddling or sunning yourself within moments. Or if you prefer, you can relax on your own private patio with a glass of wine or kick back in the sitting room and soak up the magnificent views. Close to all that St Mawes offers, you can pick up fresh bread from the bakery, wander the pretty streets, discovering the boutiques, spend time on the beach or check out the local restaurants, it's the perfect beachside holiday location. - Find out more...
