Keep the whole family entertained this February half-term with some fantastic activities around the Fal River.

Travel to space from Falmouth! 11 — 19 February

If you fancy getting up close to our planets, then now is your chance.. there's going to be an actual space portal in the The National Maritime Museum! There are sessions for space cadets both big and small, to find out about the Sun and the planets, adventures in the Solar System, Tim Peake's mission aboard the International Space Station, the skies tonight, Earth's place in the solar system & in the Galaxy, and key moments in the history of space exploration. The museum are also offering space themed creative workshops in the craft making centre which look out of this world! Plan your mission to space this February half – term with Space Odyssey Planetarium at NMMC.

On Your Bike!

Whether your children are tiny tots or tall teenagers, family bike rides can be the perfect way to spend time together. What better way to have fun, keep fit and get outdoors this half-term?

The Fal River boasts some fantastic cycle routes that take you through some of Cornwall's finest scenery. You can cycle around the Roseland Peninsula, which can take in two ferry crossings if you're setting off from Falmouth. There is also the Coast to Coast Trail which links Devoran and Portreath on the North Coast - this is a great day out and particularly ideal for families.

We’ve put together our favourite cycle routes for you to enjoy. Each one is graded on difficulty, and given our best guess at how long they should take you, as well as the top things to see and do while you're on them! Not got your own bike? Don't worry we can recommend plenty of places you can hire one from.

Half-term Snowdrop Trail 11 — 19 February

There's fun for all the family with the snowdrop trail at Trelissick Gardens this half-term. At Trelissick there’s over 300 acres of space to play, and run around, not to mentions trees to climb! There’s also a shop, gallery, cafe and second-hand bookshop to delight the whole family. So what are you waiting for, The Snowdrop Trail is the perfect excuse for getting out and exploring the garden in early spring.

Children's Holiday Adventure Days

If you are looking for outdoor activities to keep the kids busy this half-term then we’ve got it! BF Adventure have a range of fantastic fun packed adventure days for children from 6-13 years this half-term. Each day has a different theme and different activities, from flying down the zip wire to water fun on the canoes in the quarry. No two days will ever be the same and your young adventurers  will be talking about it for weeks!

Terrific Tudors at Pendennis Castle 13 — 17 February

Step back in time over 400 years and imagine life in the Tudor fort of Pendennis this half term.

Warm yourself by the roaring fire in the castle keep with demonstrations and displays from our Tudor cook, learn about the diet of Pendennis’ Tudor residents and help prepare provisions for the troops, then step outside to try your hand at sword skills and cannon drills! Oh, What Fun!

CBeebies’ favourite double act comes to Truro! 13 February

Get a groovy move on down to Hall For Cornwall this half-term to see Chris & Pui from Show Me Show Me in their very own stage show, with the toys & characters from their hit TV programme.

Incy Wincy, Twinkle, Old MacDonald, Humpty, Granny Humpty and many more of your favourite Chris & Pui characters will be dropping in along with the toys – Tom, Momo, Teddington, Stuffy and Miss Mouse.

Catch the Gingerbread Man, marvel at the Ugly Duckling becoming a beautiful swan and oooh and aaah as Miss Mouse attempts to zoom zoom zoom to the cheesy moon in her rocket! With songs, comedy sketches, a dash of magic and heaps of joining in, this is a family show for children aged to two to a hundred and two.

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary

Do you have any keen young marine biologists or animal lovers in the family? Why not head for Cornwall’s only Seal Sanctuary and rescue centre.

Hear about dramatic rescues, watch the fantastic feeds, and meet the seals and sea lions up close. The Sanctuary is also home to fun loving otters, playful penguins, potty paddock animals and a Cornish rock pool hosting a wide range of marine creatures. Their special family pass even includes a behind the scenes tour area of the seal hospital!

Tucked away in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the 40 acre centre also boasts a woodland quiz trail, pirate ship play area, café and not one but two gift shops!
