Idle Rocks

Idle Rocks is perfectly placed overlooking the St Mawes Harbour. Voted number 1 “Top Sunday Lunches” by The Times 2015, they offer great Cornish produce, simply prepared, cooked and served.

Whilst the food will be served to the very highest standard, the setting is relaxed – providing a real home-from-home feeling. The philosophy: good-old-fashioned hospitality, simplicity and friendliness.

The Restaurant is open 7 days a week, with dining on the terrace when the sun shines, which it usually does. A relaxed but lively atmosphere, with music playing, guests chattering, cocktails being created and a great wine list to mull over and enjoy.

Stay at Pencreek
We love Pencreek. Ideally located in the centre St Mawes, with  incredible sea views from its 8 metre balcony.



Hotel Tresanton Restaurant


The Tresanton offers a magical setting with its calm and cool dining room and Mediterranean atmosphere with a mosaic floor and tongue and groove walls. The menu changes a little each day, but the emphasis is always on fresh fish simply cooked.

It has a terrace on two sides where lunch, drinks and candlelit dinners are served in the summer and whenever the temperate climate allows.

Open to non-residents for afternoon cream teas and light lunches, dinners and Sunday Barbecues during the summer months.

Stay at Trevu

Trevu has exquisite views across the water to St Anthony’s lighthouse, the Lizard Peninsula and out to sea. The world renowned Hotel Tresanton is only 200 yards away as is Tavern beach.




The Watchhouse

Friendly harbour-side restaurant in St Mawes putting together seasonal menus and daily specials using fresh local ingredients.

The relaxed ground floor is ideal for a bite to eat after a walk on the beach (dogs welcome) and the upstairs tables are extremely popular for the views across St Mawes Harbour.

If you are looking for something on the go, the Watch Out take-away serves sustainably sourced fish and chips, as well as coffee, teas and ice cream.


Stay at Upper Warren
Upper Warren, is a traditional Cornish Cottage that has been sympathetically modernised over the years.

The back garden has a raised patio area and the property has a reserved parking space.



St Mawes Hotel

The location of the St Mawes Hotel, in the centre of the village alongside the harbour, places it at the heart of the community. 

It's where the locals, the fishermen, the sailors and visitors all gather throughout the day and long into the evening.

No reservations are required – dine in a totally relaxed and informal environment. Menu options include both small and larger dishes based on the wonderful produce from the sea, home-made stone baked pizzas and daily specials. Throughout the summer months the doors are always wide open, inviting passers-by into the lively, informal bar and restaurant.

Alfresco tables provide an idyllic location to make the most of sunny days and enjoy the spectacular views of the estuary.

The Old Bakehouse, is a super conversion making a light and airy holiday home in the centre of St Mawes just 150 metres from the beach.
