Hatrick of Awards for Bosinver Farm Cottages
7 April 2015
The Cornish holiday cottage complex Bosinver has won a hat trick of tourism awards.
Bosinver Farm Cottages, a collection of holiday properties set in a hidden valley in Trelowth, near St Austell was crowned Winner of Winners at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards, as well as receiving a Gold and Bronze award.
Pat Smith, owner of Bosinver, said: "In the room were the region's tourism businesses of the highest order and for a small family concern like ours to be honoured in this way is quite overwhelming.
"We are so proud of the whole Bosinver team who make the business what it is."
The self-catering holiday accommodation provider was awarded Gold for 'Self Catering Holiday Provider of the Year' and Bronze in the 'Sustainable Tourism Award', in addition to being chosen as 'Winner of Winners'.
'Winner of Winners' is decided by the judges as the entrant that is an exemplar in its field.
Robin Barker, organiser of the South West Tourism Excellence Awards said: " As this year's Winner of Winners, Bosinver is not only a multiple award winner itself - winning two awards this year - but also goes that extra mile in enhancing their destination and encouraging others to do so."
This is a remarkable achievement for this ambitious, eco-friendly family business that topped 425 other entries from Isles of Scilly in the west to Salisbury in the east and Cirencester in the north, including Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset, Bath, Bristol and Gloucestershire.
Malcolm Bell, Head of VisitCornwall, said: "Nearly 100 trophies were presented this year - a record number with many categories seeing joint bronzes and silvers, even some joint golds. So to win Winner of Winners, as well as two awards, is an outstanding result for Bosinver and testament to the work that the team does, both within its self-catering properties, as well as the wider tourism industry for Cornwall."
Bosinver qualified for the South West Tourism Excellence Awards as a winner of the Cornwall Tourism Awards in November, where the company secured Gold for 'Self-Catering Holiday of the Year', as well as claiming the top spot in the 'Sustainable Tourism' category.
