TIN: The Cornish Story Released on DVD

27 October 2015

Following its successful cinema release earlier this year, Miracle Theatre's feature film, TIN, will be released for home entertainment on October 27th.

Based on a true story from West Cornwall, Tin was a novel published 130 years ago about a notorious swindle by a local bank.

The novel caused outrage and copies were bought up and burned. Fortunately a few survived.

This "small, but epic" micro-budget film, made entirely in Cornwall, tells the tale of a weather-beaten opera company, which arrives to perform in the town hall and becomes tangled up in a scam to offload shares in the ailing tin mine.

"The film brings a chapter of our mining heritage to life in a unique way which will have special appeal to lovers of Cornwall, while the human story at the heart of the film should charm audiences everywhere." says writer and director, Bill Scott.

The film, which stars Jenny Agutter, Dudley Sutton and Redruth-born opera star, Benjamin Luxon, alongside Miracle regulars Ben Dyson, Jason Squibb, Dean Nolan and Steve Jacobs, sold out in Cornish cinemas when it was released in the spring.

Shot over 15 days in 2012 in a purpose-built green screen studio in Redruth, using meticulously constructed model sets, the film has a quirky, heightened style that adds to the melodramatic nature of the story.

"Tin is a tale beautifully and amusingly told. It's been so exciting to see how well this Cornish film has done so far" said Jenny Agutter, "I'm very proud to be a part of it and have been enjoying hearing from people who have seen it and love it!"

"We have been blown away by the feedback we've received about the film", says producer Annie Ukleja, "Tin will continue to be been screened in venues, festivals and village halls around the country (and the world, we hope!), but it's wonderful to know that everyone can now enjoy watching TIN in the comfort of their own home – a taste of Cornwall wherever they are!"
