Hear the Unknown Story of The Siege of Pendennis at the Maritime Museum
30 November 2015
Join historian and author Steph Haxton at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth on December 7 for a fascinating talk on the 'unknown' story of the siege of Pendennis Castle.
In 1646 a thousand souls loyal to King Charles I suffered a five month ordeal, besieged by a Parliamentarian army in a bitter civil war between Crown and Commonwealth. Of these desperate Royalists, two hundred were women and children.
Steph says: "History needn't be dull; the past is his or her story...a narrative.
It can be brought to life in the pages of a novel. That's my task as an author. The historian in me just has to advise on the setting! A novelist might speculate, but I will reveal that sometimes truth is stranger than any fiction."
The talk, entitled Exposed to All Villainies is from 12 noon on Monday, December 7 at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and tickets costs £7. To book your place please call 01326 214546.
