Have a Nordic Noel at the Maritime Museum

4 December 2015

Head to the Maritime Museum in Falmouth on December 12-13 for a weekend of wintry wonders.

To coincide with their epic Viking Voyagers exhibition, the Museum is holding their first ever Viking Winterfest where you can meet real live Vikings and discover how they celebrated the winter solstice; thrill to winter sagas and tales of tomfoolery, frost giants and foul play; and meet Old Man Winter, the Norse version of Father Christmas, who'll be handing out traditional Scandinavian treats for all the girls and boys.

Then throughout the Christmas school holidays from December 19-January 3, the Nordic Noël continues with creative crafts inspired by festive customs from Nordic nations. Make your very own Viking Yule Goat and other seasonal fare and discover the Viking origins of some of our Christmas traditions with the Cool Yule Trail.

And don't miss Going Viking with Fleet of Foot Theatre, on December 23 and 30, where you can join enthusiastic story seekers Nelson Fleet and Henry Foot as they send their battered old filling cabinet into the past to discover all things Viking.

All the activities at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall over the Christmas period are free with your Museum entrance ticket. For more information on opening times and admission prices visit www.nmmc.co.uk or call 01326 313388.
