3 June 2016
St Michaels Hotel and Spa in Falmouth announced this week, that the search is on to find a top notch Managing Director, as it also confirmed a major £6 million investment programme on the Hotel, Health Club and Spa, starting in October (2016).
"We're seeking a strong, entrepreneurial leader to take St Michaels to the next level of its development. It is the most important appointment I have ever made" said owner, Nigel Carpenter. "The right person will have a tremendous background of success in hospitality, as well as having the commercial, marketing and financial skills to grow the business for the future", he continued.
The £6 million investment programme commences October 2016 and will be transformational. The future St Michaels Spa and Wellness Resort will undoubtedly be one of the top leisure facilities in the south west, offering the local community exclusive and state of the art services. Both the spa and health club will more than double in size, and become separate units linked by a wellness walkway.
St Michaels Spa will become dedicated to treatments and relaxation, with seven new treatment rooms including Rasul Mud and flotation experience rooms, hydrotherapy pool, new steam and sauna cabins, relaxation areas, spa gardens and a spa café. The existing St Michaels Health Club will relocate to an extended and expanded facility created from major development of the former Falmouth Beach Club. The new facility will accommodate up to 2500 members and include a 3 story 'urban style' gym, 3 studios dedicated to spinning, holistic and fitness classes, treatment rooms, plus an array of other facilities. In addition the large 17m pool – so popular with locals - will be refurbished and improved and reopened to the local community in February 2017.
The main hotel public spaces, already popular with locals, will offer an open plan reception, bar, lounge and dining experience. The 2 Rosette Flying Fish restaurant will be fully refurbished and extended with the addition of a sea-facing terrace for alfresco dining.
The Falmouth Beach Hotel 'Croft site'- which survived the fire in 2012 - will be re-developed, offering an additional 32 premium hotel bedrooms and suites, many with balconies and breath-taking sea or garden views – all under the St Michaels' branding.
4 eco woodland spa lodges will be created in the st Michaels' spa gardens offering luxury accommodation for up to four people, with private decks, hot tubs and exclusive spa access
When the new Managing Director is appointed, Nigel Carpenter will become Chairman and concentrate increasingly on developments beyond St Michaels. Current General Manager, Karl Taylor, is moving on after 3 years to take up a General Manager role closer to his home in East Cornwall. "I am very grateful to Karl for his tremendous support and hard work over the past 3 years. He will be sadly missed by all of us," said Nigel Carpenter.
"Now is the right time in our development to seek an experienced Managing Director to take St Michaels.to the next level. The new £6 million investment will be transformational and make St Michaels one of the top destination resorts in the whole South West", concluded Nigel.
