Christmas is coming to Philleigh Way Cookery School

15 November 2016

Cornwall, 15th November 2016: Next generation farmhouse cookery school, Philleigh Way, has created a series of Christmas courses for the festive season.

"The best of Christmas Cookery in Cornwall".

The Christmas course schedule includes Christmas Cookery and Christmas Cake Decorating as well as two newly launched courses for 2016; Christmas Baking and Wreath Making.

All four courses have been designed not only to arm students with skills and techniques to make the most of Christmas fare, but also to get them into the festive spirit. For anyone short on gift ideas, Cookery course gift vouchers are also now available for 2017.

The full-day Christmas Cookery course kicks off with some European family favourites; resident chef George Pascoe will teach students how to bake Christmas classics German Stollen and Italian Panettone. He'll also demonstrate a selection of easy party canapés which are sure to impress guests, show students how to jazz up the traditional roast turkey or goose, and share tips and tricks on how to make the most of Christmas leftovers.

To really get the Christmas party started, a mixologist from Southwestern Distillery, which produces Tarquin's Gin will also be on hand to teach a couple of festive cocktails. The Christmas Cookery course takes place on Saturday 3rd December and Saturday 10th December from 10.00am-16.00pm and costs £150.00pp, which includes a Philleigh Way Christmas lunch and drinks.

On Sunday 4th December, the Christmas Cake Decorating course takes place with tutor, Christine Hawker. Trained at the prestigious Denman College, Christine has a passion for sugarcraft and baking. During this fun, hands-on course, students will master a whole batch of different decorating skills and techniques to produce their own beautifully decorated Christmas cake. The end result is guaranteed to impress family and friends when it graces the table at Christmas! The Christmas Cake Decorating course runs from 9.30am – 13.30pm and costs £50.00.

New for 2016, Philleigh Way's Christmas Baking course will teach students how
to prepare a wide range of treats perfect for gifts or simply sharing with family and friends this Christmas. Students will learn to make traditional mince pies, a yule log, chocolate truffles and stollen muffins, heading home with a bag full of delicious goodies. Tutor, Christine Hawker will also teach students how to make a range of festive inspired decorations to adorn their bakes. The Christmas Baking course takes place on Thursday 8th December from 9.30am-13.30pm and costs £70.00.

Finally, a new Wreath Making course will give students the opportunity to create a
masterpiece to adorn their front door. Tutor Helen Johns of Trebilcocks Flowers will teach students how to prepare a wreath base before decorating it with seasonal greenery, ribbon and a range of adornments. Students create their own wreath, which they take home at the end of the day, and will be nourished with mulled wine and mince pies provided throughout the afternoon. The Wreath Making course takes place on Friday 16th December, 14.00-16.30pm and costs £30.00.

With Christmas fast approaching, now is the perfect time to purchase a Philleigh Way cookery course gift voucher for the food lover in the family.
