Coastal Wreath Making Workshop with NNMC

6 December

Celebrate the magic of Cornwall this Christmas with a hands-on workshop exploring the connections between maritime heritage, traditional skills and creative making.

Led by Angela from the Cornish Wreath Maker, this engaging workshop invites participants to explore Cornwall’s coastal environment and maritime traditions while creating their own unique, maritime-inspired Christmas wreath.

Using sustainably foraged and home-grown botanicals, alongside shoreline treasures including seaweeds, shells, cones and berries, participants will learn how natural materials can be brought together to create a beautiful seasonal decoration.

The workshop will draw inspiration from the Museum’s collections, you’ll have the opportunity to learn and practise a selection of traditional knots, developing practical skills that can then be incorporated into the design of your wreaths.

No previous crafting or knot-tying experience is required, the workshop is suitable for beginners, with step-by-step guidance provided throughout.

All materials and equipment are included, although you are welcome to bring along any foliage or special shells you may have collected yourself.
