A Certain Kind of Light

5 July - 31 July 2019

An exhibition of new work by Kleiner Shames

The show, which runs through July, sees Kleiner, a contemporary British artist currently residing in Penzance, extending his practice of experimentation with form and colour, “using shapes that have been developed over 15 years of painting. Driven by process, the artworks are developed by trusting instinct instead of planning. By experimenting with various finishes and creating a satisfying sense of depth in two-dimensional pieces, the painting, sculpture and assemblage works can transform depending on the light source.”

Kleiner Shames  often works at an extremely large scale on external commissions with his most recent local commission our overy own ‘Dazzle Ferry’ which can be seen in Falmouth harbour, where the St Mawes ferry, known as the May Queen, was completely painted to commemorate 75 years since the D-Day landings.

Location: Daisy Laing Gallery, 51 Chapel Street, Penzance, TR18 4AF
