Ferry and Foot with Heritage Adventures

22 June

Falmouth to Roundwood Quay

Enjoy a bespoke heritage estuary tour by land and sea with Jeanette Ratcliffe from Heritage Adventures and 'Cornish Bird' storyteller Elizabeth Dale.

One of a limited number of special experiences Heritage Adventures is offering in partnership with Fal River Cornwall, exploring the history and archaeology of the spectacular Fal Estuary.

Join Jeanette and Elizabeth for a ‘Ferry & Foot’ adventure – small-group tours combining a return ferry trip with a circular shoreline walk – allowing you to both view historic and prehistoric sites from the water and visit them up close on land, guided by two local experts.

This all-inclusive, guided tour starts with a ferry journey from Falmouth Prince of Wales Pier, up through the stunning waters of Carrick Roads, to disembark at Trelissick Pontoon, from where your heritage site-seeing continues on foot.

Walking through the waterside parkland of Trelissick Estate, you will learn about the fascinating history of this stunning stately home, before taking the wooded trackway to Roundwood Quay – an 18th century quay for exporting copper ore, with an Iron Age promontory fort hidden in the trees behind.

After a picnic lunch (bring your own) and exploring the fascinating, multiperiod archaeological remains, the walk continues along the beautiful, wooded foreshore of Lamouth Creek and King Harry’s Reach, back to Trelissick Pontoon for the return ferry journey to Falmouth.
