Minnows Explorers at NMMC

13 November 2019

Explorer caps and backpacks on and magnifying glasses at the ready, there's adventure to be had every Thursday during term time, at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall.

Minnows Explorers is National Maritime Museum Cornwall’s grandparent and grandchildren activity sessions. It’s all about creating, making and exploring together.

When?

Minnows Explorers is on every Thursday throughout term time in the Museum’s Main Hall. The session starts at 10.30am and finishes at midday.

Please note, all participants start the session together (it is not a drop-in session). We recommend arriving just before 10.30am to secure your spot.

Who’s it for?

Minnows Explorers is specifically for grandparents who help take care of their grandchildren as part of childcare arrangements. The sessions are best suited to children under 5.

What is it?

These fun packed sessions are the perfect way to enjoy time with your grandchildren in the Museum. Be inspired by play ideas and indoor fun, led by an expert team. You’ll also have the chance to meet other grandparents with their grandchildren too.

How do the sessions work?

You’ll meet Laura, the Early Year’s specialist, who is running the session and with the team you will:

  • Explore objects and play with shapes and textures.

  • Don your backpack and cap and together we’ll hunt high and low with magnifying glasses and binoculars for the minnow fish hidden in the Museum.

  • Once you’re up and running, you’re free to explore the trail at your own pace.

  • The adventure will end in the Treasure Island Play Zone where little ones can let off steam.
