Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival Announces Main Stages and Key Sponsors for 2025

29 April

The countdown has begun for the highly anticipated Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival 2025, taking place from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th June.

As one of the largest free nautical music festivals in Europe, this world-renowned event will once again see Falmouth come alive with the sounds of the sea.

And this year, there will FOUR spectacular main stages, each backed by a key sponsor, ensuring an incredible lineup of performances throughout the weekend:

• NEW FOR 2025 - The Falmouth Main Stage
A brand-new addition for the 2025 festival, The Falmouth Main Stage will be located on the picturesque front lawn of the town’s oldest hotel, The Falmouth. Overlooking Castle Beach, this historic Victorian hotel, now being lovingly restored under local ownership as part of the Cornwall Hotel Collection, offers the ultimate Cornish experience. This new main stage is set to quickly become a festival favourite, combining top-tier performances within an iconic setting that showcases Falmouth’s natural beauty.

• Seasalt Main Stage, Events Square
Located in the heart of Falmouth, this vibrant stage is sponsored by Seasalt Cornwall, an iconic brand deeply connected with Cornwall’s heritage. As a centre of activity during the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, this stage will host some of the biggest performances, drawing in crowds eager to experience the best of shanty music within a lively and energetic atmosphere.

• Sharp’s Main Stage, Church Street Car Park
With its central location, this stage will be a hub of activity, drawing in festivalgoers from across the town to create a lively and immersive atmosphere where audiences can sing along to rousing sea shanties set against the stunning backdrop of Falmouth Harbour. Sponsored by Sharp’s Brewery, known for their dedication to quality Cornish brewing, this stage is set to be a key focal point for those wanting to experience the passion and energy of traditional maritime music.

• Greenbank Hotel Main Stage
The marquee on Greenbank Quay will once again serve as a main stage for the shanty festival. The Greenbank Hotel, with its rich maritime heritage, provides a stunning waterfront setting where visitors can soak up the scenery, service, and spirit of the sea. Festivalgoers can enjoy rousing performances while watching classic vessels sail by, making for an unforgettable setting.

Each venue has been carefully selected to provide the best possible experience for festivalgoers. From intimate pub settings to the main open-air stages highlighted above, the festival is a fantastic Falmouth staple for thousands of visitors, whether they are lifelong enthusiasts or just discovering sea shanties for the first time.

At the heart of the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, is a proud partnership with the RNLI. The charity plays a vital role in keeping coastal communities safe and as the festival’s principal charity partner, donations raised over the festival weekend go directly towards supporting their lifesaving work. We thank everyone in advance who contributes to this essential cause during the festival weekend. Richard Gates, Chair of the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival committee, commented:

"After celebrating the festival’s twentieth anniversary last year, we thought it couldn’t get any bigger. However, with the addition of a brand-new main stage at The Falmouth, this year’s event is set to be our largest yet. With over eighty groups confirmed, Falmouth is gearing up for another truly unforgettable weekend of maritime music in June."

The Falmouth’s Managing Director, Ben Young, added:

“We are incredibly excited for The Falmouth to be joining the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival as a main stage location for the first time. This festival is a celebration of our town’s rich maritime heritage, and we are honoured to provide a venue where visitors and locals alike can come together to enjoy the music and camaraderie. This partnership, alongside the continued support from our sister hotels, The Greenbank and The Alverton, underscores our collective commitment to supporting the cultural vibrancy of Falmouth and contributing to the festival’s continued success.”

The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival would not be possible without the generosity and support of its sponsors. Their commitment ensures that the festival remains free for all to enjoy, preserving Falmouth’s rich maritime heritage and fostering a love for traditional and contemporary shanty music, while securing its place as a highlight in the town's cultural calendar.

Further details, including the full lineup of performers, will be announced in the coming months.
