Emerge at Tregony Contemporary
6 June - 27 June
New paintings from Michelle Maddox / Erin Raedeke
Emerge brings together new paintings by Erin Raedeke and Michelle Maddox in a focused two-person exhibition that considers how observation shifts through memory, material, and process.
Raedeke’s work is grounded in sustained looking. Her interiors and still life subjects are held in a quiet, deliberate balance, where structure, light, and spatial relationships are carefully built over time. While rooted in direct observation, her paintings extend beyond it—memory and reflection subtly shaping the final image.
Maddox’s paintings operate with a more immediate, tactile energy. Her process allows forms to surface and recede through the act of painting itself, embracing the physicality of materials and the unpredictability of perception. Objects are not fixed, but continually tested, reworked, and re-seen.
What connects these two practices is a shared understanding of painting as an active process of discovery. Observation is not static or resolved, it is something that evolves through time, attention, and making.
Following Raedeke’s 2025 solo exhibition with Tregony Contemporary, and marking Maddox’s first presentation with the gallery, Emerge brings two distinct approaches into dialogue—where images are not simply described, but brought into being.
Raedeke returns following her 2025 successful solo exhibition Living Space, and will be in Cornwall to lead our inaugural Tregony Contemporary | In Residence painting workshop, Capturing Colour in the Landscape.
Emerge also marks Michelle Maddox’s first exhibition with the gallery.
Opening: Saturday 6 June
Erin Raedeke and Michelle Maddox will both be present 6–27 June 2026
