Handel Spectacular
Wednesday 1st November 7:30pm
Academy of Ancient Music (AAM) is an orchestra with a worldwide reputation for excellence in baroque and classical music, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
Using historically-informed techniques, period-specific instruments and original sources, AAM brings music vividly to life in committed, vibrant performances.
Under the direction of harpsichordist Richard Egarr it returns for its first concert at Hall for Cornwall since 2017.
They bring Handel’s two most popular orchestral suites – Water Music, first performed in 1717 on barges on the River Thames to celebrate the coronation of King George I – and Music for the Royal Fireworks, written just over 30 years later for an outdoor spectacular at the command of his successor, King George II.
