Festive Friday in Truro

24 November 2023

Enjoy Christmas celebrations in the city

Truro BID will be launching Christmas celebrations in the city on 24 November when Festive Friday, which includes the Christmas Lights Switch-on, returns for the third year.

As well as the Christmas Lights Switch-on, Festive Friday includes other events to celebrate the start of the festive season.

From 3pm Pirate FM’s Johnny Cowling and Lucy Start will be broadcasting out and about in Truro, building up to the much-anticipated lights switch-on.

There will be special entertainment from 4.45pm organised by the Hall for Cornwall on the stage in Boscawen St.

At 7pm the lights will be switched-on by Johnny Cowling, Lucy Start, cast members from Hall for Cornwall’s Christmas Show Peter Pan, Truro BID, the Mayor of Truro and others including Coodes Solicitors colleagues.

Following the switch-on, there will be live celebratory music on the stage until 9pm from Cornish based musicians the Stone Roots and the Three Draft Monkeys.

The BIG Festive Market hosted by Cornwall Shop Small and Truro Farmers Market will be on Lemon Quay all day until 9pm on Festive Friday, and back again all day on Saturday 25 November.

The outdoor market will give additional opportunities to shop in the city from over 70 local traders for seasonal gifts, and local food and drink.

Festive Friday coincides with Black Friday so retailers are encouraged to trade later if they can. There will be traffic-free shopping streets all day as we are organising road closures from 6am until midnight.

Festive Friday in the city exists with the support from Truro City Council (who are putting up and providing the stage), Pirate FM , Hall for Cornwall , Cornwall Shop Small and Truro Farmers Market.

The event is kindly sponsored by Coodes Solicitors.

Truro BID also thank the Truro businesses who pay the BID levy contributions and make it possible to fund and install Truro's Christmas Lights.
