National Maritime Museum Autumn Lecture Series

As autumn draws in and the nights grow darker, join us for the Autumn Lecture Series exploring the shadowy side of Cornwall’s rich maritime heritage. This seasonal collection delves into the hidden histories, dark folklore, and mysterious tales that have shaped Cornwall’s coastal identity for centuries.

Join podcaster Keith Wallis (The Piskie Trap) as he explores a range of dark tales and traditions from all around the Cornish coast. From stories of smugglers, phantoms and shipwrecks, to fantastical creatures lurking beneath the waves. Keith will be delving into a mix of folk tales from locations around the Cornish coastline, how they’re linked to the darker side of history here in Cornwall, and our local storytelling traditions and customs.

Doors open at 7pm, with hot & cold drinks available from our Waterside Cafe.

Lecture starts at 7.30pm.

Please note due to the dark nature of the subject matter and supernatural themes, this lecture may be unsuitable for younger audiences.
