Half Term Trail at Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery
11 October - 2 November
To celebrate Mars: War and Peace at Truro Cathedral, we've climbed into an imaginary spacecraft and embarked on a Mars mission of our own!
The breathtaking installation at the Cathedral was created by artist Luke Jerram and made with the help of pictures from NASA. When you visit (find out more here), you’ll also see and hear clips from Martian landscapes recorded on missions to the Red Planet.
The planet’s name comes from the Roman god of war. Ancient civilisations paid a lot of attention to the night sky, and many of their stories and beliefs connect gods and goddesses with the stars and planets.
Stretching across two galleries here at the museum, we explore both Mars the planet and Mars the Roman god, and the connections between the two. Complete the free trail and win a prize!
Plus, make your very own Red Planet to take home – they make perfect Christmas tree decorations!
Mars Trails will be available for free at the Welcome Desk. No booking for the trail is required, but advanced booking for the museum saves you time. For entry to the museum, Under 18s are free of charge, adult Annual Passes are £10.
