Framed is an open art exhibition coming to the museum this autumn. We’re shining a light on contemporary creativity in its many forms, and any artist working in Cornwall was invited to submit work. Please note, submissions are now closed. 

We received a record number of submissions this year covering many art forms including drawing, painting, photography, textiles, sculpture, ceramics and digital work.

An independent selection panel chose 150 works to display in the museum, and others will be made available digitally as part of the exhibition.

The exhibition includes evocative portraits, impressive landscapes, and skilfully executed still lives in pencil, pen, chalk, watercolours and oils. It also features stunning photography and imaginative mixed media work.

Meanwhile, 3D work includes detailed sculptures in clay, metal and found materials, and beautiful decorative and functional ceramics. Printmaking is well represented with engravings, woodcuts, monotypes, and botanical prints, and the mediums of textiles and stained glass are also represented.

As part of the exhibition, all artists exhibiting in the museum will be entered into The People’s Choice Award of which there are three categories: the work that makes me happiest, the work that shows the most skill, and overall ‘best in show’. Voting closes on 24th December, and the winners will be announced at an event on 15th January.
