Surfing Memories
23 January 2026 - 1 January 2027
Community Curated Exhibition at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall
The National Maritime Museum Cornwall presents Surfing Memories, a community-curated exhibition offering a unique snapshot of personal and family memories from Cornish surf holidays. Spanning decades of coastal adventures, the display brings together photographs, films, and objects celebrating the traditional beach trip, all contributed by local residents and visitors to the county.
The exhibition captures stories of joy and laughter, hardship and hope through the years, from splashing in the surf on bodyboards to building sandcastles with bucket and spade. These treasured memories reveal how generations have experienced and connected with the Cornish coast.
As a living exhibition, Surfing Memories will continue to evolve and grow throughout its run as more photographs, films, and objects are shared by the community. Visitors are invited to contribute their own memories and photographs of beach trips and surf holidays to help expand this collective celebration of coastal life.
The exhibition is included in museum admission. To learn more or to share your memories, visit the National Maritime Museum Cornwall website at
