14 August 2019

Looking for a sandy cove all to yourself? We've listed some of the best secret beaches in Cornwall.

Here's our favourite beach spots for the intrepid explorers amongst you! - wild out of the way spots nestled amidst the and scenery away from the crowds, those hidden gems you will often hear about.

Little and Great Molunan

Set in the shelter of St Anthony Lighthouse and headland, Little and Great Molunan overlook the Carrick Roads and Falmouth harbour. A picturesque and secluded cove with a sandy beach and plenty of quirky nooks & crannies to explore, and bountiful snorkelling grounds. Be aware access isn't the most flip-flop friendly- down a steep set of steps from the headland or via the footpath from the Place Ferry.

Porthcurnick

Sat on the East coast of the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, Porthcurnick is a south east facing sandy cove, owned by the National Trust.
The beach has its own slipway and plenty of watery nooks and crevices ideal for rockpooling.
Tucked away at the back of the beach you’ll find the highly sought-after Hidden Hut. During the day, the hut serves a small menu of simple freshly-made refreshments. No deep-fat fryers, just an outdoor stove and indoor bakery oven.  By night, the hut opens on selected evenings to host fabulous open-air (sell out within seconds) Feast Nights!

Kiberick Cove

This small sheltered cove tucked in on the easterly side of Nare Head is set against the backdrop of some of the best cliff-land scenery along this stretch of the Roseland coastline.
Access down to the beach is somewhat of a scramble but well worth it for the surefooted explorers amongst you.
Add more adventure with a walk around the Nare Head along the Coast Path and reward yourself to lunch at the nearby Quarterdeck Restaurant.

Towan

Towan beach is a well secluded sand and shingle beach at the southernmost tip of the Gerrans Bay.
A crescent-shaped, south east-facing beach, it’s spectacular in the morning, with a viewing arc from the Nare Head to the north, round towards St Anthony Head in the south.  The flat surface of the beach makes it a haven for rockpools at low tide
Make sure you pop by Thirstea Co.- the adorable and unique travelling tea room pitched at Porth Farm. Specialising in delicious Cornish produce, perfect mid morning snacks, tasty picnic lunches, & afternoon tea!

Loe Beach

A picturesque and sheltered cove between Truro and Falmouth, Loe Beach is the ideal spot to explore the tranquil waters along this beautiful part of the river.
Being a little off the beaten track, Loe Beach is less well known than most beaches and a great spot for a swim. The beach has its own Watersports Centre with plenty of options to hire, including kayaks, paddleboards, motor boats and row boats, as well as sailing dinghies.
