A Cornish Boat Trip to Remember

Lunch by the Creek: The Pandora Ferry Experience

Some journeys are merely a means to an end. This is not one of them. From the moment you step aboard the Kingsley II at Falmouth, you know you've found something truly special - a Cornish boat trip unlike any other.

The Pandora Ferry takes you on a 45-minute voyage across some of the most breathtaking waterways in Cornwall, gliding towards one of the county's most celebrated pub destinations: the legendary Pandora Inn, a 13th-century thatched inn perched dreamily alongside the water. The journey there is every bit as memorable as the pint that awaits.

Meet Kingsley II

Built in Cornwall in 1934 by master boatbuilder Percy Mitchell, the Kingsley II is a piece of living maritime heritage. She has worked these creeks and estuaries her entire life - from south-east Cornwall to the Isles of Scilly and back again - and she carries that history in every plank and rivet.

Step aboard and let the world slow down. The Fal River estuary,  one of only three natural ria harbours in the world, opens up around you in a sweep of wooded hillsides, mudflats alive with wading birds, and the kind of scenery that’ll take your breath away.

Restronguet Creek and The Pandora Inn

After 45 minutes of gliding through Instagram worthy scenery, the ferry nudges up to the pontoon of the Pandora Inn. The pub itself dates to the 13th century, and inside you'll find the ancient flagstone floors, low-beamed ceilings, and centuries of atmosphere.

The menu makes the setting proud: freshly sourced Cornish mussels, classic fish pie, the finest fish and chips, and seasonal dishes built around whatever the local suppliers have brought in that morning.  Take a seat out on the pontoon and soak it all in - the gentle lap of the creek, the picturesque scenery beyond, and a plate of something wonderful in front of you. Cornish dining doesn't get much better than this.

The ferry runs on selected dates between May and September, departing from the Prince of Wales Pier in Falmouth. Dogs are very welcome on board. Tickets can be booked online in advance and you can save 10% by booking through the Fal River website
