The countdown to 25th December is well and truly on! To spread the joy, here are a few festive event recommendations to get you in the Christmas spirit.

The City of Lights Parade
20 November

Nothing heralds the start of the festive season quite like the City of Lights, Truro's midwinter lantern festival.

Come and see a dazzling procession of willow-stick-and-tissue lanterns; handmade by artists, schools and community groups, float through the city streets. This years theme is "Under the Clock Tower" Alongside the visual spectacle City of Lights is a feast of of music and dance including samba, brass bands and pipes and drums. 

 

The Made in Cornwall Christmas Fair
27 November - 1 December

The annual Christmas Fair returns once again to #Truro's Lemon Quay. This year promises to be the biggest and best yet. Over 75 Made in Cornwall Members displaying their wares, a Made in Cornwall café area with wonderful local food and drink offerings, all in a fantastic festive Cornish atmosphere. Open late on Wednesday for late night shopping too!

 

Falmouth Lights Switch On
28 November

Falmouth Christmas lights switch-on is a magical evening.

The evening starts when schoolchildren representing the town’s primary schools, gather on Events Square with decorations and colourful withy lanterns. They are joined by a community choir and band and of course Santa before processing through the town towards The Moor.
Once on The Moor, each school sings a Christmas carol on the state-of-the-art-stage before the big switch-on. The evening is organised by the Falmouth Town Team as always and compered by Pirate FM.The Falmouth Christmas lights are switched on each year by a nominated community champion. This is a person or group who after a public vote, gets to switch on the lights for that year.

Late Night St Mawes Ferry Service

Please note there will be additional ferries departing 5.30pm from Falmouth & 6pm from St Mawes
There will also be an 8.15pm return from Falmouth back to St Mawes. 


Christmas Wreath Making Masterclass & Lunch with Tregothnan's Head Florist

4 December

Get into the festive spirit with a 2- hour Christmas wreath masterclass with Emma, the head florist at Tregothnan Estate - Including Lunch        
Emma from Tregothnan will host a Christmas wreath making masterclass demonstrating how to put together a stunning Christmas wreath to enjoy throughout the festive season.
A sumptuous 3-course festive lunch will then be served in the award-winning Brasserie on the Bay at St Michaels Resort in Falmouth.

Trelissick illuminated
6 - 8 December & daily from 13 - 23 December

See the garden in a new light as it becomes an illuminated wonderland. After you’ve wound your way through the garden you’ll need warming up, so why not head to the house where the fire will be roaring to bring feeling back those chilly toes.
4pm to 7pm. Don't forget the illuminations continue after Christmas from Friday 27 to Tuesday 31 December.

The Winter Gift Fair

11 December - 19 December.

Building on from what was the Victorian Christmas Market The Winter Gift Fayre in Truro aims to become one of Cornwall’s most well-known Christmas events, with theming that encapsulates the spirit of winter magic and Christmas festivities with decorations and warm twinkling lights.
The Winter Gift Fayre will offer quality products throughout, visitors will enjoy a wonderful selection of craft, jewellery, art, food, drink and much more.

Miracle Theatre’s Treasure Island
13 December to 5 January

After three bumper years in Falmouth with Cinderella, Bah Humbug! and Aladdin, Miracle will be back at Princess Pavilion this December with a brand new production, full of music and laughter, freely adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.
This epic nautical adventure story, full of swashbuckling sea shanty singing characters, will have all the saltiness of the original nineteenth century setting with the added flavours of Miracle humour and seasonal fun.
Gather up your friends, grandmothers, uncles, children and neighbours and join us this Christmas for a festive treat to warm your hearts and cockles.

The Working Boat Mini Christmas Festival
19 December

The Working Boat Pub will be hosting the Falmouth Christmas Festival again this year, From 3pm until late. Get your their festive fix, with creative craft stalls, toasty tipples and yuletide inspired food.

Join in with a merry sing-a-long of Christmas classics as The Working Boat welcome carollers to fill the pub with traditional tunes from 6pm until 8pm. There will be song sheets for those that would like to take part! Then at 9pm, the party ramps up with a special winter performance from Me and the Devil, so bring your dancing shoes.
