Festival of Christmas at Eden

Wander through the beautifully lit site after dark, where giant willow lanterns, modelled on our planet’s most precious creatures, light up the night. Marvel at artist Luke Jerram’s hauntingly beautiful work Gaia Earth. Enjoy a glass of mulled wine around a giant Christmas tree, where a brass band will play seasonal favourites. Take a spin around the ice rink, or meet Father Christmas and his elves in their cosy grotto. Exchange your Yuletide woollens for something new in the Christmas Jumper Swap Shop, or make a pledge to the planet in the comical family photobooth. Plus, listen to unique winter tales, catch a performing cast of Christmas characters who pop up across Eden, take part in craft workshops, or do a spot of Christmas shopping in the gift shop.

Festive fun for the whole family – from merry Make and Takes to glistening light trails, Christmas at the Museum takes on the theme of Lanterns and Lights with a nautical twist.

Christmas has arrived
Decked in festive lights Daisy Belle, a traditional Cornish wooden dinghy, takes on the role of our magnificent Christmas tree as she welcomes visitors into the Museum.

Packet Ship Lantern
The specially commissioned paper Packet Ship lantern join Falmouth’s Christmas Light switch on parade before returning home to the Museum to join the flying flotilla in the Main Hall.

Magical Make and Takes
Under the warm glow of the paper Packet Ship, glistening lights inspire our pre-Christmas workshops as we make macramé lanterns for the festive season. After Christmas take part in our light installation as we create a platoon of lit paper boats to display in the Main Hall. Create two, one for the installation in the Museum and one to take home. Each boat will hold a wish for the year ahead.

Light Trail
