Plan Your Summer Evenings in St Mawes
A stunning Cornish fishing village at the Roseland peninsula's end, St Mawes is a perfect place for a summer's evening. Take a stroll on the beach, book dinner by the water's edge, or enjoy a night of live music.
The dining room at Hotel Tresanton has a calm and cool Mediterranean atmosphere. Sun-drenched by day and candle-lit by night, it has a collection of spaces for eating, drinking and relaxing. Above the rocky coastline, a series of three terraces support shaded daybeds and a bar serving drinks – while further down, almost at sea level, are high perches and tables for cocktails overlooking St Anthony's Lighthouse. Open to all for lunch, drinks and dinner.
Book a dining spot at The Idle Rocks for a stunning front-row seat at the water's edge. The interiors reflect the ultimate in waterside comfort and luxury and the south-facing terrace provides expansive sea views. The acclaimed Reef Knot Restaurant crafts exquisite Cornish sea-to-table dishes with freshly caught fish from their own fisherman, paired with the finest seasonal produce sourced from Cornwall's farms and gardens.
Visit the Lower Deck Bar at the St Mawes Hotel every Thursday for an evening of live music from Cornwall's most talented up-and-coming musicians from 7–9pm. With the last ferry from St Mawes to Falmouth leaving at 9.45pm, there's plenty of time for music and a post-gig tipple. As well as live music, the St Mawes Hotel offers excellent food choices – grab a takeaway pizza to eat on the beach, or book a table at the lively and informal Upper Deck. With locally sourced ingredients, try Italian-style fresh small plates, handmade pasta or delicious wood-fired pizzas.
The Watch House is a local favourite harbourside restaurant with a comfy and cosy ground floor dining area and bar with family-friendly booths. Whether it's lobster straight out of St Mawes Bay or purple sprouting broccoli from the farm down the road, sourcing their food from local suppliers is part of their commitment to providing great seasonable and sustainable dishes. For a quick bite to eat, there is a takeaway window serving fresh and local Fish and Chips, which taste even better on Summers Beach!
Plan Your Summer Evenings in Falmouth

If you want to sink back with a glass of something cold and admire the views, The Castle View bar and lounge is the best spot on the seafront for shoreside sips.
One of Falmouth's oldest and most characterful pubs, The Chain Locker sits right on the historic quayside on Quay Street, believed to date back to the 1660s. Sympathetically restored by St Austell Brewery, the 16th-century building offers stylish and contemporary dining alongside award-winning ales. Head upstairs for unrivalled harbour views - perfect for an al fresco evening pint or a plate of fresh, locally sourced seafood as the boats come in.
Want to do a spot of bar hopping or exploring the streets of Falmouth before the last ferry back to St Mawes? Then grab some award-winning fish and chips from Harbour Lights and take in the views from Custom House Quay whilst you dine al-fresco. Alternatively take advantage of the newly refurbed restaurant with views out to the docks, Flushing and beyond.
