14 May
Top Ten Reasons to Sail with Us
Embark on a refreshing spring adventure with Fal River, where you can sail through Cornwall's awakening landscapes, visit charming villages and immerse yourself in rich history as nature blooms around you.
Choose to sail between vibrant Falmouth and the picturesque fishing village of St Mawes. Or, hop on Enterprise Boats for a scenic journey up the river to Trelissick and Malpas.
Whether you're a local seeking a special springtime outing or a visitor looking for an extraordinary experience, here are ten compelling reasons to choose our boat trips this Spring.
For the Spring Views
The Fal River offers some of Cornwall's most breathtaking scenery, especially in spring when nature's colours come to life. Our boat trips allow you to enjoy these stunning spring views from a unique perspective. Expect sparkling blue water, lush green landscapes, charming villages, and historic castles, all from the peaceful tranquility of the water.
For the Villages and Towns
A trip on the St Mawes Ferry allows you to visit the picturesque fishing village of St Mawes and the bustling town of Falmouth in a day. Each stop offers unique charm, from quaint shops and galleries to museums and historic landmarks.
If you journey up the river on Enterprise Boats, visit the wonderful house and gardens at Trelissick (spectacular with spring blossoms) or have lunch at Malpas and enjoy the views as nature reawakens.
For the Health Benefits
Indulge in the health benefits of our boat trips during this ideal outdoor season. Milder temperatures and fresh air provide a perfect environment to enjoy the numerous physical and mental health benefits associated with being near water.
Head to St Mawes for an invigorating spring swim, or follow the Woodland Walk at Trelissick surrounded by bluebells and spring flowers. Being outdoors in this season of renewal is particularly invigorating and uplifting - treat yourself to healthy, feel-good spring vibes.
For the History
The area is steeped in history, including a rich maritime heritage. Sights include the 16th-century Pendennis and St Mawes Castles, which were part of Henry VIII's coastal defense system.
Imagine the past as you sail past narrow, sheltered creeks and inlets. From Ennterprise Boats look out for D-Day embarkment point Turnaware Point or 17th-century Smugglers Cottage.
For the Spring Wildlife
Spring is a spectacular time for wildlife on the Fal River and when we see our first influx of migratory birds which arrive in Falmouth Bay and the estuary to spend time feeding in the sheltered waters before making their way to their breeding grounds. Basking sharks, the second largest fish in the world, are one of the most incredible sights in Cornish water and have been spotted in the Carrick Roads on many occasions. You might also spot playful seals and dolphins.
For the Photo Opportunities
Longer days and the golden glow light of this time of year create perfect conditions for photography. The stunning views and unique perspectives from the water or your destination provide endless photo opportunities. Whether you're an amateur photographer or an Instagram enthusiast, you'll capture some fantastic shots. Remember to share them with us! Tag @stmawesferry or @enterpriseboats.
For the Friends and Family Experience
May half-term makes this the perfect month for family outings. Whether you're traveling with young children, teenagers, or elderly family members, a boat trip on the Fal River offers something for everyone. It's a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend quality time together before the summer crowds arrive. And we're dog-friendly too, so four-legged friends are always welcome!
