  St Mawes

  St Mawes Ticket Office on the Quay

The St Mawes Ticket Office is situated on St Mawes Quay. The white hut is located halfway down the quay where our friendly staff will be ready to greet you. 

Postcode: TR2 5DG | Opening hours: 9am - 4.30pm / 7 days a week / April to October 

During winter (November - March), the Place Ferry doesn't run, please hail the St Mawes Water Taxi during November and December - 07971 846786.

  Place

There is no ticket office in Place.

Please head to the ferry departure point at Toddy Steps and our crew will be happy to help onboard.

  Falmouth

If you are planning on getting a combination ticket for the Roseland Ramble or Coast Path Explorer from Falmouth, here is all the information for ticket offices in Falmouth.

  Fal River Visitor Information Centre

The Fal River Visitor Information centre is located on the Prince of Wales Pier, the blue building on the left handside of the pier as you enter has everything you need to start your day out on the water.

  Prince of Wales Pier Ticket Office

The Prince of Wales Pier Ticket Office is a blue octagonal shaped hut on the left hand side of the pier as you walk on from the main street. The office can sell all types of ferry tickets and our friendly staff will be happy to advise you about great things to see and do at your end destination.

During winter (November - March), passengers may purchase tickets on board the ferry for St Mawes only - no Place Ferry in winter.

  Custom House Quay Ticket Office

The Custom House Quay Ticket Office is located on Custom House Quay at the 'bottom end' of town. Near the famous fish and chip shop Harbour Lights, this office is open seasonally each year and our friendly staff will be happy to help you with ferry tickets, location information and more.

During winter (November - March), no ferries run from Custom House Quay, please use the Prince of Wales Pier service for St Mawes Ferry only.

For map, see bottom of page. Please note, we try to keep our website as up to date as possible and the prices are correct at the time of publishing, but sometimes prices may vary. Please contact us and let us know if you spot a mistake.

  St Mawes

  St Mawes main car park

There is a large car park in the heart of the village. Follow the main road (A3078) into the village. The car park is signpsoted as you come down into the village, take the right turn immediately after the Rising Sun pub.

  St Mawes Quay

It is possible to park on the quay in St Mawes, the car park offers approximately 30 spaces. Follow the main road into the village (A3078) and as you see the quay, turn left on to it just by Cafe Chandlers.

Postcode: TR2 5DG | Price: £6 for up to 8 hours.

  Falmouth

  Town Quarry (for Prince of Wales Pier)

Run by Cornwall Council, the Town Quarry car park is situated on 'The Moor'. Follow the main signs into Falmouth and turn left onto Kimberley Park Road at the traffic lights. Follow the road down past Argos and then turn left up to the car park.

  The Dell (for Custom House Quay)

Run by Cornwall Council, the Dell car park is situated at the 'bottom end' of town near the Falmouth Town Railway station. Follow the main road through Falmouth and turn off left at Avenue Road. The car park is about 200m down the hill on the left hand side (just past the railway bridge).

  Short stay car parks

There are also various short stay car parks around Falmouth, Maritime and The Grove are close to Custom House Quay and 'The Moor' is close to Prince of Wales Pier. 

  Are there toilets onboard?

Not on the Place Ferry. There are public toilets in St Mawes near the main car park. There are public toilets at St Anthony Head on the Place peninsula. 

  Can I take my bike on the ferries?

Yes - we can accept a maximum of two bikes each sailing. Please remove panniers before boarding. Bikes are charged at £2 per single on Place Ferry. If you are travelling in with a large group of cyclists, it may be adviasble to call ahead first on 01326 741194 as we only have limited space onboard for bikes.

  Do you take buggies?

Yes - buggies must be folded down for travel. Children must be removed from the buggy before boarding. Buggies must not be carried down the steps and on to the ferry with a child in it for safety reasons. 

  What happens if it rains?

The Place Ferry is an open boat with no covered areas. So please come prepared and bring waterpoofs in case we get a burst of Cornish liquid sunshine. 

  Can I bring a dog on the ferry?

Four legged friends are more than welcome onboard the Place Ferry. Dogs travel for free.

  Are there refreshments available onboard?

Not on the Place Ferry. There are plenty of cafes and shops in St Mawes to stock up with goodies for an adventure. On the Place side, there is Thirstea Co at Towan beach. 

  Access

  Are you accessible for wheelchair bound or limited mobility passengers?

We welcome everyone aboard our boats, however, there are steps at all of our destinations to negotiate. If you require assistance, please do contact us on 01326 741194 before you travel. The Place Ferry is a small 12 seat boat which requires passengers to climb on to the seats to board the ferry.

  How many steps are there?

It varies - depending on the tide, it could just be 4 steps, or at low tide, it could be up to 30 steps. Please call ahead on 01326 741194 if you have any questions.

  Is the ferry easy to move around?

The Place Ferry is small. Once you have boarded, please remain seated for the duration of the trip. If you're unsure, please check before travel and give us a ring on 01326 741194 and our staff will be happy to help.

  What age is a child ticket for?

A child ticket (including family) is aged 4-16 inclusive. 3 or under travel for free. 17 or over count as an adult or concession. 

  How many people does a family ticket allow?

A family ticket allows for up to 2 adults and up to 3 children (4-16).

    What is a concession ticket?

A concession ticket is for people over the age of 65 or students showing a valid form of student ID. 

  I've bought a ticket online, what do I do now?

Great - just bring a print out of your voucher you will have received when you completed the transaction on screen and on email. You may also bring along a digital copy of the ticket on a smartphone. It is important the print out or on screen version is legibile for our staff to redeem your ticket, it is your responsibility to ensure that this is the case. Just bring either with you on your preferred day of travel and our staff will do the rest. No need to book.

  Can I connect with other ferry services?

Yes - the Place Ferry connects with the St Mawes Ferry. If you would like to visit Falmouth, you can connect with this service at St Mawes Quay. The best way to do this is with a Fal Mussel Card Visitior.   How long does the journey take?

The journey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to cross the busy harbour.

 Does it get rough?

Rarely. The Place Ferry operates in the sheltered waters of St Mawes Harbour. Sometimes there might be a small amount of chop on the water which can rock the boat from side to side, but it is a gentle movement and nothing to be worried about.
