Statement from FalRiver Cornwall: Place Ferry

22 March

At FalRiver we would like to inform everyone in our community that the Place Ferry will no longer be operated by us from the start of the 2024 season. Instead St Mawes Harbour will be running the operation.

We would like to thank our many loyal passengers and the wonderful community of St Mawes for the 19 years of service, during which time we made the ferry the success that it is today, linking St Mawes with the South West Coast Path and an incredibly beautiful stretch of Cornwall's coastline.

This change does unfortunately mean that Mussel cards will no longer be accepted on Place Ferry. All enquiries about the ferry in 2024 should be made to St Mawes Harbour office. You can of course still use your Mussel card on the rest of our services including the St Mawes Ferry and Enterprise Boats, as well as the Flushing Ferry.

Many of you will be familiar with Livingstone, our rather lovely Cygnus 19 that has operated the route for many years.

Using Livingstone we are launching a brand new ferry service for 2024: named the Truro River Ferry, it will serve the upper reaches of the Fal estuary, creating links between Boscawen Park at Truro and Malpas. This will enable, for the first time in a long while, the possibility of travelling by water from St Mawes, via Falmouth, to Truro. We warmly invite you to come along and explore an intriguing stretch of the river that has been rarely visited in recent years and will of course let you know more about this in due course.

Best wishes from the FalRiver team, and we hope to see you out on the water very soon.
