How do I get a card?

Pickup a card on the King Harry Ferry, St Mawes Ferry or at one of our ticket offices when open. Minimum first top up is £50 for new cards.

What services can I use?

Valid for travel on the King Harry Ferry, St Mawes Ferry and Enterprise Boats.

Please note, the Place Ferry no longer accepts the Fal Mussel Card Local as it is now run by a different operator.

How much does a journey cost?

Your journey cost will vary dependant on which price band you are in, to find out which price band you are in, please click here to see 'My Discount'.

Your discount is calculated on how many times you have used the type of service (vehicle/foot) within the last 30 days. 

You also need to ensure you have registered your card with your account to qualify for the best rates. Cards not registered will be charged a flat rate that is more expensive.

Please note, it sometimes takes a few minutes for the system to update.

Do I need to register my card online?

It is best to register your card online and set up an account, by doing so you can easily top up your account, monitor your usage and manage your Fal Mussel Cards. You'll also be able to block lost and stolen cards by registering it online. Cards not registered online will incur a higher price for journeys and be more expensive. If you can't register online, speak to a member of crew.

How do I top up?

Top-up and manage your card online through your account. Click here to register for an account or click here to sign in if you have already created one. You can still top up on the ferry or at the ticket office when you travel.

How do I check my balance?

Check your balance through your online account. Click here to register for an account if you haven't already done so, or click here to sign in if you have already created one. You can still get an estimated balance on board the ferry when you travel, just ask a member of crew.

How much can I top up?

You can top up your account by any amount between £25-£250, just tell our staff as you top-up or top-up online. Minimum of £50 for new cards. Your total account balance cannot exceed £500.

How do I register a card to my account?

Once you have created an account, you can follow the links in the navigation to add a card or click here.

Can I have money/balance just on my card?

Yes - when you top up on the ferry or at the ticket office, our staff will ask you if the want the top up exclusively on the card or on the account. By putting it just on the card, it can only be used exclusively on that specific card. If you top-up on to the account, any active card you have previously registered with that account can use the balance.

I’m not using the ferry for a few days, will the rate I pay change?

The rate you pay is calculated over a 30 day period, so if your usage drops, it may may drop into a higher price band.

I have a balance on my card and on my account? Why is this? What does it mean?

You can have a balance on a specific card, or you can have a balance on the account. It is possible to have a balance on both.

Card Balance - this balance is only available to that specific card, it cannot be used by any other cards registered to the account.

Account Balance - this balance is available to all cards registered to the account.

When you travel, by default a card balance will be deducted first (if available). If there is no card balance, it will then deduct from the account balance.

My card is damaged, what do I do?

If you have a damaged card, please let the ferry crew know and they will be able to issue you a new card. You will then need to register this card to your online account before it can be used. You can also pickup a new card at the ticket office when open. Click here to register a new card.

Where can I get an additional card?

If you need an additional card, please let the ferry crew know and they will be able to issue you a new card. The crew will ask to see your current card. You will then need to register this card to your online account before it can be used, click here to register a new card.

EXISITING CUSTOMERS

What happens to my old credits?

If you had a Fal Mussel Card Local before the 12th January 2022 with a credit balance on, all of these credits will still be honoured at the rate paid for. Once you have run out of credits, you will then be required to top up with a cash value instead of credits and your usage will be used to calculate the price you pay for your journeys.

Why has the system changed?

Changing the Fal Mussel Card system is one of the steps we are taking to improve customer experience. Customers will now be able to fully manage their Fal Mussel Card online, see their usage and find out exactly how much each journey costs. Customers will also be able to block lost/stolen cards and won't lose out as they might have with the previous system (registered cards only).

There are four offices in and around Falmouth where you can get St Mawes Ferry tickets and connect to our ferries:

Fal River Visitor Information Centre

The Fal River Visitor Information centre is located on the Prince of Wales Pier, the blue building on the left handside of the pier as you enter has everything you need to start your day out on the water.

Opening hours: 10am - 3pm Monday to Saturday, 10am - 1pm Sunday (summer, April - October). 10am - 2pm Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday (winter, November - March).

Prince of Wales Pier Ticket Office

The Prince of Wales Pier Ticket Office is a blue octagonal shaped hut on the left hand side of the pier as you walk on from the main street. The office can sell all types of ferry tickets and our friendly staff will be happy to advise you about great things to see and do at your end destination.

Custom House Quay Ticket Office

The Custom House Quay Ticket Office is located on Custom House Quay at the 'bottom end' of town. Near the famous fish and chip shop Harbour Lights, this office is open seasonally each year and our friendly staff will be happy to help you with ferry tickets, location information and more.

St Mawes Ticket Office on the Quay

The St Mawes Ticket Office is situated on St Mawes Quay. The white hut is located halfway down the quay where our friendly staff will be ready to greet you.

Truro

Visit Truro - Truro Tourist Information Cenre

The Visit Truro office is the official tourist information centre for the city. Located on Boscawen Street, the centre sells all ferry tickets as well a great selection of gifts, cards and more.
