The Greenbank Hotel is one of the most historic and romantic buildings in Falmouth. Built in 1640 it has been home to visitors such as Florence Nightingale and Kenneth Grahame, who rumour has it, wrote Wind In The Willows here.
We don’t know where to start with what makes The Greenbank so wonderful for weddings. It could be the fabulously furnished bedrooms (Hello Honeymoon Suite and brand new Lookout Suite), the AA Rosette awarded cuisine, the expertly mixed cocktails or the friendly team. We also debated whether it was the private pontoons for tying the knot in a unique and memorable humanis ceremony or enjoying a boat ride on the open water once you’ve wed, the events suite with private balcony where you can enjoy a bespoke firework display, the indulgent massage you’ll receive in the Treatment Room or perhaps the delicious breakfast as newlyweds enjoyed in the comfiest bed you’ve ever slept in.
A backdrop that oozes heritage and character. The Greenbank team have got it all covered.
More InformationWe finally decided that the best thing about The Greenbank was in fact none of those, even though they all add to the experience. The best thing truly is that view. It’s everywhere you turn; the ceremony room overlooks it, the bar and restaurant surround it and the rooms are perfectly positioned so that you can always admire the ever-changing sea vistas, not to mention the sunrises.
An early morning sat on the terrace of the Honeymoon Suite watching the sun come up after the best day of your lives? That’s how to celebrate in style.
This month we met up with The Alverton Hotel's wedding planner Jo Hogarth and discovered what lies behind the grand oak door at this city chic wedding venue.
